EPC Launches Compact GaN-Based Inverter for Humanoid Robot Joints
Efficient Power Conversion Corp (EPC) has introduced the EPC91122, a compact 3-phase BLDC motor drive inverter evaluation board designed specifically for humanoid robotic joint applications.
Powered by EPC’s integrated EPC33110 module, the solution delivers up to 20ARMS (28A peak) within a space-optimized 32mm circular footprint, enabling direct integration inside robotic motor assemblies. Operating at up to 150kHz switching frequency and pre-configured at 100kHz PWM with 50ns dead-time, the board demonstrates the high-speed, high-efficiency advantages of GaN technology.
The EPC91122 integrates a complete motor drive system, including an STM32G431 microcontroller, encoder interface (1024 PPR), voltage and current sensing, RS485 communication, and onboard power management. Designed for battery-powered platforms, it supports applications across humanoid robotics, compact servo systems, drones, and eMobility.
The reference design board is priced at $470 and is available for immediate shipment through Digi-Key Corp, along with full design documentation for development support.
The launch underscores EPC’s continued focus on enabling higher power density and deeper integration for next-generation robotic systems.
