Global semiconductor foundry Tower Semiconductor Ltd and silicon photonics specialist Scintil Photonics have jointly announced the availability of the world’s first heterogeneously integrated dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) laser sources designed specifically for next-generation AI infrastructure. The innovation represents a major step forward in enabling faster, more efficient AI data-center connectivity.
The breakthrough is powered by Scintil’s SHIP (Scintil Heterogeneous Integrated Photonics) technology, which integrates monolithic laser sources with Tower’s high-volume silicon photonics platform. This combination enables advanced optical interconnect solutions capable of meeting demanding DWDM performance requirements.
DWDM lasers play a critical role in co-packaged optics (CPO)-based AI infrastructure, supporting:
- Higher bandwidth density
- Ultra-low tail latency
- Lower energy consumption per bit
