Luminus Devices Inc. Partners with APC Electronics
Luminus Devices Inc. Partners with APC Electronics to Advance Energy-Efficient LED Lighting Solutions

The global LED lighting industry is set to experience a significant boost in energy efficiency as Luminus Devices Inc, a leading developer of solid-state lighting technologies, enters an exclusive partnership with APC Electronics (APC-E), a specialist in wide-bandgap power semiconductor solutions. The collaboration brings together high-performance LED innovation and advanced silicon carbide (SiC) power technologies to enable next-generation lighting systems with improved efficiency, lower operational costs, and reduced environmental impact.

This strategic alliance aims to optimize lighting system performance by integrating Luminus’ high-brightness LED solutions with APC-E’s cutting-edge SiC power semiconductors. The combined technology helps eliminate efficiency losses typically associated with power conversion, enabling customers to design more compact, reliable, and energy-efficient luminaires across diverse applications.

Driving Performance through Advanced Technology

At the core of the collaboration is Luminus’ latest LED innovation, including the MP-5050 P series, which delivers luminous efficacy of up to 244 lumens per watt. When paired with APC-E’s proprietary SiC power devices, the technology enhances overall system architecture by improving energy conversion efficiency and minimizing power losses.

The integration of SiC components into LED luminaire power supply designs offers measurable benefits:

  • Up to 50% reduction in power supply weight and volume in 200W systems
  • Up to 15% improvement in system efficiency for high-power (1000W) applications
  • Enhanced performance across street lighting, high-mast, stadium, and industrial lighting systems
  • Significant efficiency gains even in lower-power fixtures such as 100W applications

Beyond illumination markets, the partnership is expected to create new opportunities across multiple industries, including:

  • Industrial power supplies
  • Data center infrastructure
  • Electric vehicles (EVs)
  • Medical technologies
  • UV curing and horticulture applications
